Setting up Remote Desktop Connection

Windows XP onwards there is an option to setup remote desktop connection with in a Local LAN. To enable this do the following:

Start Button -> Settings -> Control Panel -> System -> Remote Tab

Under the Heading Remote Desktop Tick Allow users to connect remotely to this computer

This will enable Remote connection. To test it:

Start Button -> Programs -> Accessories -> Communications -> Remote Desktop Connection

Give the IP address or name of the computer you want to connect to. This should bring up the desktop of the remote computer on your computer.

Providing Support using TeamViewer

Download TeamViewer software from:

TeamViewer (full version)

Execute the TeamViewer_Setup.exe. It will setup TeamViewer full version on your PC.

Getting Support using TeamViewer

Download TeamViewer Quick Support software from:

TeamViewer QuickSupport (customer module)

Execute the TeamViewerQS.exe. It will typically give you an eight digit number and password. Give those to the support provider. He/she should have setup the Full TeamViewer. When this ID is specified in the space provided, it asks for a password. On giving the password you can see the remote desktop of the PC across the Internet.
